How do you sleep? Do you find it hard to switch off?
Does your mind work constantly – when you are completely exhausted and put your head on the pillow yearning for a good night’s sleep and the mind monkeys come out to play!!
For many a lack sleep is very debilitating, and something that personally, have been prone to all my life. For years I woke at 5 to go to London to work and then we had a horse as well and that needed to be sorted out before work. So, although work was later, I was still getting up at 5 so my body and brain are trained to see 5 o’clock with its am or pm on most days whether it night or day!
However, I also now struggle with waking in the middle of the night and the one thing that has greatly helped me is the White Chestnut remedy – it is the remedy to quieten the mind and help to contribute to a good night’s sleep. Dr Bach says it is the remedy to take you “from the mental merry-go-round to mental quiet”.
This is oh so true, for me it’s about stopping the mind monkeys – for finding the peace inside your head. Take the example for instance of having a disagreement at work that has not been resolved to your satisfaction – when you go home you are likely to continue to ponder these thoughts – repeatedly you will ask whether you have done the right thing.
These thoughts will whirl around in your head for the rest of the evening and disturb your sleep, but equally return in the morning.

If you are of this disposition and prone to poor sleep, then White Chestnut is the remedy for you. It is particularly at night when we lie down and our body stops doing everything else and the mind has nothing else in it that the mind monkeys start to jump about making a noise and preventing sleep.
Our daily life’s can trigger emotional responses in us that result in our minds becoming busy, and we may find it hard to escape these thoughts. You may notice that your mind is repeatedly rewinding an incident and you can’t stop it. It could be a recent disagreement that you replay in your head or you have worries about a business or relationship problem.
Whatever it maybe you relentlessly go over and over these things, at the same time your powers of concentration and output will become compromised. If you are then preoccupied during the day and again at night – it is this that disturbs your sleep.
Of course, the White Chestnut is great to help with the repeated thoughts but equally the Rescue Night Remedy, which contains White Chestnut, may also be your answer to a fabulous nights sleep
The White Chestnut brings discernment and sense of serenity to your thoughts. It will settle your mind and allow you a sense of space and quietness.
