The words Forgive yourself with a red heart

Guilt – how to ease the pain

Guilt – how to ease the pain.

“Every time you judge yourself, you hurt yourself” a quote from Paulo Coelho

Do you tend to feel overly guilty about things?  Are you quick to blame yourself that you even feel guilty when things are not your responsibility?

Holding onto guilt is like having rocks in your life, they prevent you from doing what you want to do and will eat away at any pleasure in your own achievements.  It will take away your peace and you become too tired to enjoy life. How can you ease the pain.

The guilt itself may stem from the past, you may be harbouring guilt for many years, or it may be due to something more recent.  Those who need this remedy frequently blame themselves for others mistakes and are constantly apologising. They burden themselves with self-reproach even when they have done no wrong.

When a friend or relative passes away they will be full of recrimination as to why they didn’t do more, the what if and oh if only will be very common in their conversation.  “I should have” or “I could have” are also common in their sentences,

These feelings and emotions can often stem from childhood family situations, blame, shame and guilt are pernicious and create feelings that undermine your own sense of self even when there is no apparent reason to do so.

Very often this feeling can play a huge part in grief, when a loved one dies and we realised how little time we have spent with them and little we have done for them, we look to ourselves to see what we could have done for them or should have done.  Here the guilt creeps in and if there is a history of guilt within the character this will sadly only get worse.

The remedy to relieve the guilt is Pine and this will gradually ease your pain.

Pine is the beautiful remedy to release you from these dreadful thoughts, stop the self-recrimination and reconnect you to a sense of contentment and joy from within.  It will allow you to feel free and to put your thoughts into perspective and to realise that you are only human and can only do so much.

An uncle of mine passed away at the end of last year, and at the time I felt momentarily guilty because I had not seen him for a couple of years because of Covid, and because he had dementia and was almost totally deaf and having a conversation on the phone with him was almost impossible.

However, I was lucky enough to remember the previous time we met and had our laughs and banter and enjoyed a lovely lunch together, he was 96 and was at that time on fine form.  The guilt was for me to feel because I felt briefly as if I had not done enough but then consoled myself that I did all that was physically possible.

Please if there someone in your life who you haven’t seen for sometime or even phoned for a little while, please consider a visit and a chat as you never know when life changes and it can do so in the blink of an eye.

Much love xx
